It’s been a long time getting here and every moment was worth it. Almost. No question, 2020 was a challenge. But through it all I dug deep to bring forward some things special amid the chaos and confusion: establishing the Napa County Seed Library, running the Yosemite Half Marathon (in Napa), spending more time with my sweet daughter who quickly adapted to attending “School from Home,” volunteering with community gardeners and friends who believe in sharing from their abundance, completing the publication of Atmospheric Rivers, going vegan for good, lending my voice to “Seeds of Hope” in celebration of Wangari Maathi and featuring Cherie Hill, car-camping on the east side of the Sierra Nevadas with the love of my life, Jeff Hagar. I wouldn’t trade a single minute of it, and yet because of the trials and triumphs of this year, 2021 promises to be as bright as ever. Happy New Year.
